Confirmation

Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation that is closely connected to Baptism and the Eucharist. It strengthens an individual’s bond with the church and enriches them with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

As with all sacraments, preparation is parish-based. Prior to preparation, each candidate must have two years of Catholic School or Faith Formation instruction. Confirmation is a two-year program beginning in grade 8 (or higher). The Confirmation Mass is celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral on a date pre-determined by the Diocese following completion of the two-year program.

“Confirmation candidates from the Our Mother of Sorrows and Holy Cross Community received blessings and prayers from our parish family at their Rite of Sending on Saturday, April 26, 2025 and will proceed to the Rite of Confirmation by Bishop Matano on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.  They are an inspiration to us all for their love and dedication to God! Come Holy Spirit, ignite the hearts of all your faithful!  Please keep these young disciples of Christ in your prayers in the weeks and years to come!”
